A Dilemma

A Dilemma

Sparks Innovation

LimeIQ began its story not with a product, but with a dilemma. In 2018, Greg Zarin, founder of SubroSmart, faced operational inefficiencies as he received increasing volumes of bordereaux (BDX) files from syndicates to review for subrogation opportunities. These files arrived in unstructured formats and contained tens of thousands of rows of data, making manual review time-consuming and unsustainable.

Recognizing the need for a more efficient approach, Greg leveraged his prior experience in technology and assembled a development team to create a custom ingestion engine that rapidly consolidated and organized BDX files.

As this tool continued to grow, demonstrations of it to the market made it clear that the challenges were not only unique to Subrosmart, but experienced across the broader Lloyd’s market of carriers. Fragmented data, reliance on manual workflows, and friction in BDX reconciliation was an everyday frustration by nearly all major carriers and brokers in the syndicated insurance industry.

In response, LimeIQ was born as a standalone platform, designed to deliver efficient BDX ingestion, enhance the quality of the data being delivered to the market, and promote real-time insights across the delegated authority ecosystem.

In 2022, Sophie joined the LimeIQ team as an Associate Director to help continue to build the product and assist with its implementation. Her background as a broker and interest in aligning technical advances with real market needs helped to shape LimeIQ’s user-first approach.

By 2023, LimeIQ entered a critical implementation phase, working closely with early market partners to refine the platform and gather real-time feedback. These partnerships validated LimeIQ’s goal to deliver immediate impact of BDX management and analysis across market stakeholders.

LimeIQ gained visibility across the Lloyd’s market, presenting to over 200 participants at LMA and LIMOSS market wide sessions. These demonstrations highlighted the platform’s extensive Delegated Authority solutions and its embedded FCP Front-End Reconciliation tool, designed to bring clarity and alignment across DCAs, Brokers, and Managing Agents.

By the end of the year, John joins as Director of Technology, bringing over 25 years of technical experience scaling enterprise platforms to guide LimeIQ’s long-term technical development.
